Stolen Motorized Shopping Cart From Safeway!

FAIRBANKS — A 32-year-old Anchorage man was charged with felony second-degree theft Tuesday for reportedly stealing a rideable, motorized shopping cart from Safeway.
According to charging documents, Fairbanks police spotted Rondell Tony Chinuhuk attempting to cross University Avenue on the cart at 3:24 a.m. Chinuhuk initially claimed he was returning the cart to the store but when questioned further said he was coming from Safeway.
The battery-operated Mart Cart features a chair with a shopping basket mounted in front of the handlebars and is valued at $2,500.
Store surveillance footage shows Chinuhuk driving the cart out of the store about 10 minutes before police stopped him, according to the charges.
The Mart Cart has a top speed of 1.9 mph, according to the owner’s manual.
