A San Antonio father faces criminal charges after police said he cut the back of his son’s head with a Katana sword.
Antonio Juan Alvarado, 57, was arrested Monday for the alleged Feb. 23 assault.
That day, Alvarado grew upset with his 20-year-old son for not having a job and “playing video games all day long,” according to the arrest affidavit.
Alvardo allegedly ridiculed his son until his son pushed him away.
The father went to his room and returned moments later with a Katana sword that was about three feet long, according to the affidavit. Alvardo swung the sword, eventually cutting the back of his son’s head, police said.
The son went to the hospital and reported the assault that night, according to the affidavit. Detectives took pictures of the cut on his head, which required stitches to close.
Police returned to the home that night, but Alvarado allegedly fled.
Alvardo is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. A judge set his bail at $75,000.
